Founded by Lin & Toni Sappong in 2018, Plasticfree Toronto is a movement of people interested in learning more about climate change, social justice and the broader topic of sustainability. Through all of our endeavours, we hope to inspire one another to tackle injustice and embrace our power as citizens, change-makers and culture-shapers.
what we do
Be the Change. Create the Change.
SCHOOL OUTREACH
The Future is Bright
Creating a better future starts with education, and we believe that environmental awareness is important at every stage of learning. Through seminars and workshops, we aim to engage youth in reimagining the way they live and interact with the world.
SUSTAINABILITY SEMINARS
Knowledge Exchange
At Plasticfree Toronto, we aim to share our knowledge about environmental sustainability best practices, and social justice activism with community groups, large or small.
COMMUNITY-BUILDING
Creating Resilient Communities
Through community-building events such as beach cleanups, rooftop garden tours, and movie nights, we aim to bring people together to connect meaningfully and learn about sustainability. We also host tours of Toronto-local businesses to highlight the organizations that are paving the way for sustainable living in the city.
"We all have a unique power and when we connect to it the world changes. Whether that is the power of choice, the power of listening, the power of standing in solidarity, the power of caring, or the power of persistence. Each one of us has a role to play in shaping our future.”
